Lightning reaction times thanks to the lightning fast screen.

Introduction

In gaming every second counts, a moment too late and it’s game over. This certainly applies to fps-focused games such as Counter-Strike and Overwatch. ASUS plays cleverly into this with its new Scar edition notebooks and we tested the 17” model - the ASUS Strix Scar GL703VM-EE099T, a laptop with a price tag of around 1850 euros and a super-fast screen.

Gaming laptops often look like a busy neon-lit street in the evening but not everyone is looking for that effect. RGB lighting is fun, but also distracting. In addition, the question is whether it is always useful to immediately draw attention to your gaming hobby, especially if you just want to have a powerful machine at your disposal at school, university or at work, which is also good for gaming in your free time.

ASUS GL703VM-EE099T

The ASUS Strix Scar is certainly not a neon-lit street. The fact that it is not your average laptop is mainly reflected in the carbon fibre-like structure around the keyboard and the ROG logo at the front and back. It is literally and figuratively a thick case, on the scales it looks like ASUS does not subscribe to the Weight Watchers - the pointer passes the three kilos mark. It is not the lightest to carry laptop, but it's a 17.3” model which means a large IPS screen. A good backpack is an indispensable accessory.

The base recipe of this laptop fits in the price range in which it falls - about 1850 euros, although you can save a lot on that amount through our Price Comparison. For that money, this powerhouse arrives at your doorstep with a built-in Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, a fast Core i7 and also the necessary storage on board. This makes it a device that not only has to perform well in the field of gaming, but also has to stand up to other demanding applications.
