Solid State Buyers Guide: 69 SATA SSDs review

All current SATA600 SSDs compared

Power consumption

The power consumption of our SSDs is measured using a BTO W540EU laptop based on an Intel Core i3 3120M CPU and the Intel H77M chipset. We measure the power consumption of SSDs both when idle and during a 4k random write and 1 MB sequential write workload.

Especially for use in a laptop a low power consumption is something that is nice to have. The Samsung 850 Evo, Crucial MX300 and Sandisk/WD 3D SSDs are recommend for this, with relatively low power consumption both in idle as well as under load.
