Benchmarks (USB 3.1)
Since USB 3.1 is not a part of the chipset, the motherboard manufacturers have to use extra controller chips in order to support the new interface. We use the Sandisk Extreme 900 960GB, the fastest external SSD available at the time of writing, to test the speed of this interface.
The USB 3.1-speeds are high for the most part. ASUS and MSI lead, while ASRock shows more variation and Gigabyte has a lower average score.
