MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio review: more is better?

The longest GTX 1080 Ti up until this point – but is it also the best one?

Noise levels and temperature

The noise level of graphics cards is measured at a distance of 10 centimeters within a soundproof box, where we angle the sensor. The load-test is an average of 1 minute measured during an extended 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme run, after the card has been warmed up for about 10 minutes using the same benchmark.

In idle both Gaming Xs are completely silent, because the fans do not turn on.

Under load the new Gaming X Trio is not as quiet as its predecessor, but the results are extremely close to each other.

The Trio does remain a single degree Celsius cooler during our throttling test; more on that later.
