Benchmarks (iGPU): 3DMark Skydiver
Skydiver is a part of 3DMark and as benchmark meant to test integrated GPUs and entry-level graphics cards. The differences that we see here are caused by the variations in clock speeds of the cores, the iGPU and the random access memory. As covered earlier the integrated graphics card of the 8700K operates at 1200 MHz, in contrast with the slightly lower clock frequency of the other iGPUs in this comparison. This already results in an advantage for the brand-new i7.
Aside from that we also tested the Coffee Lakes with RAM at 2666 MHz, the speed on which the IMC of this series is validated. With Kaby Lake this was 2400 MHz; this difference has a clear impact on the performance.
The combination of faster memory and higher clocked iGPU means that the 8700K sets a score that is 10 percent higher than the 7700K. With the i5 we see a jump of 6 percent, in this case completely due to the faster memory considering the clock speed of the (identical) GPUs is the same.
