SDR image quality
The projector has a few image-presets and offer extensive calibration possibilities as well. We tested the TW9300W in the Dynamic, Natural, Cinema and Digital Cinema modes and looked at brightness, contrast, gradient and colour quality. Not entirely by chance: the Dynamic mode has the highest brightness. When viewing an image with a surface of 1 m² we measure a maximum brightness of 554 cd/m², which is very high for a projector. However, the gradient and colour quality are not that great in dynamic mode with Delta E deviations of 7.2 and 9.7 respectively. Depending on the mode of the projector we measure contrast ratios that vary between 5430:1 and over 7900:1, which are solid scores.
Surprisingly it was not the Cinema or Digital Cinema preset that had the most accurate image quality, but we found the best results in the Natural mode instead. The Delta E deviations for gray- and colour quality end up at 3.9 and 1.7 respectively when using this preset, which are excellent scores. Furthermore the maximum brightness is great as well at 402 cd/m².
