Test results: Atto Random Read
We use Atto to measure how well the drives can process random read- and write commands. We do so using both small block sizes (4 kB) and large block sizes (1 MB). The 4 kB speeds are mainly intended to provide insight in how well the drive performs when used as a disk for your OS and other programs. The 1 MB tests, on the other hand, offer insight in how well the drive performs when storing files of limited size. The results of the read tests can be found below.
When reading 1 MB-blocks the drives show about the same speeds, but when reading 4 kB-blocks the IronWolf Pro is considerably slower than the regular model. This is also the case in the second test with 1 MB block size.
