DiRT 4 review: benchmarks with 19 graphics cards

Game experience, test method and image quality

We tested DiRT 4 with 19 different graphics cards, ranging from an entry-level RX 550 to high-end graphics cards such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. In order to measure the performance of the GPUs, we complete the track Wildwood Forest and log the framerate and frametimes while doing so. After some practice the resulting scores are well reproducible and consistent.

For the test we use our GPU test system, consisting of an Intel Core i7 5960X @ 4.0 GHz, MSI X99S Gaming 9 AC motherboard16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory @ 2133 MHz 13-13-13-36-2T, Samsung 840 Evo 1TB SSDSeasonic Platinum Series 1200W PSUNZXT Kraken X60 CPU cooler and a Cooler Master Test Bench. For both AMD- and Nvidia graphics cards we used the drivers with the latest game specific optimizations. For AMD cards this is Radeon Software Crimson ReLive 17.6.2, while we used driver version GeForce 382.53 for Nvidia graphics cards

Below are the comparison screenshots which we took in Low, Medium, Ultra and Ultra + 4x MSAA settings. From Low to High we mainly see a difference in terms of shadows and lighting. At Full HD-resolution the added value of anti-aliasing is very clear.
