ASUS MX34VQ review: more than mere looks

Uwqhd-resolutie at 34" va-technique convinces for a sharp price

Gaming: response time and input lag

The ASUS Designo MX34VQ might be a ‘design’ monitor, secretly a lot of gamers will find it interesting because of the 100Hz va-panel. For this reason we show extensive results of the response time measurements, including separate rise and fall-times.

As we have come to expect of va-technique especially the grey-grey transitions are not that great, until we activate overdrive. This is not necessary per se, because 9.9 ms (the longest time we measure for a single transition without overdrive) is still enough in order to show 100 frames per second. A very aggressive overdrive-setting results in a top position in the response time graphs, but also results in an unacceptable overshoot of 39%. All in all we would advise you to keep overdrive off – the monitor is fast enough for the refresh rate, and that is what matters.

Input lag

Fortunately the MX34VQ does not suffer from any form of input lag, we see some excellent results here.
