Test results: PCMark8
PCMark 8’s storage benchmark is once again based on traces, but this time around, modern software is used. PCMark 8 contains traces of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Adobe After Effects, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, World of Warcraft and Battlefield 3. The total score is determined by the geometric mean of the different subscores. Again, all traces are played in ‘real time,’ which includes idle time. The score is the average of three runs.
The bandwidth score in the bottom chart shows the underlying, average throughput rate. These scores are a measure for drive performance that does not include idle time, resulting in more pronounced differences.
On the next page you can find the subscores.
