We recently reviewed a couple different Gigabyte Brix mini-PCs, and today it's time for a third one. The entry-level Gigabyte Brix GB-XM14-1037 with Celeron processor is available in stores for around £140.
The compact mini-PC measures 10.5 x 11.5 x 3.3 cm and is 3.3 cm thin. It is more basic than the other two models we tested, there are no audio ports and the USB ports are 2.0 on both sides. If you want to transfer data you'll have to use an ethernet cable. The Brix comes with a mounting plate for hanging it behind a TV or monitor.
The interior is similar to that of the other Brix models. There are two SO-DIMM module slots for up to 16 GB of RAM, and storage comes from an mSATA SSD you need to place there. Gigabyte includes a wireless network card with a Realtek chip: 802.11n, 150 Mbit on 2.4 Ghz along with Bluetooth. That SSD should ensure that performance is fairly reasonable for most tasks.
