EVGA SuperNova G2 1300W review: super-SLI power supply

Tested and compared with 11 other 1200+ watt PSUs



If you want to combine three or four graphics cards in your desktop PC, you have no choice but to invest in a heavy-duty power supply. According to EVGA, if you plan on using three or four of their high-end EVGA cards, it's best to use an EVGA SuperNova G2 1300W. Shameless self-promotion, or is it indeed a good option? We put the PSU through our usual set of rigorous tests. 

The EVGA SuperNova G2 1300W is more or less related to the SuperNova Classified 1500W that we tested at beginning of this year. Like that one, the 1300W model has a rugged design and brushed steel casing. Deluxe extras such as the grip and individually sleeved wires (not cables) aren't present, but other than that this is a very high-end power supply. 

EVGA SuperNova G2 1300W

The SuperNova G2 1300W is reportedly a design by SuperFlower. The 1300W power supply works according to the single-rail principle. On the 12V rails a maximum of 108.3A can be supplied, whic is exactly 1300W. We're always fans of PSUs that are capable of delivering their entire capacity over 12V. The maximum capacity on the 5V and 3.3V rails is 24 ampere. The PSU is certified 80Plus Gold.

The PSU has eight PEG connectors which is enough for four high-end video cards. Six of these are combined 6/8 pins, two are standard 6-pin cables.You also get 5x molex, 1x floppy and 12x SATA cables. It's entirely modular, so you only use the cables you need. 

EVGA SuperNova G2 1300W

The power supply is cooled with a single 14cm fan which spins depending on the load. It weighs 2.2 kg, and is 20 cm deep.  

The EVGA SuperNova G2 1300W costs £152 or €168. It's actually a very good price for a 1300W PSU, you won't fine many 1200+ watt PSUs for less.
