ASUS FonePad review: smartphone and/or tablet

A tablet you put against your ear

Performance: Battery life

We test smartphone batteries in two ways. We set the brightness to 100 cd/m², which is low and suitable for indoors. We use the SunSpider test to put a maximum load on the CPU to achieve a worst-case scenario. The second test is lighter, here we play an MP4 video file.

The Intel chip in the ASUS FonePad may not be the most powerful chip, it still did very well in the more demanding benchmark. We also noticed this in practice. We really did use the FonePad instead of a traditional smartphone for a longer period of time, and the battery lasted two days on a single charge. The lighter test proved that the Atom Z2410 doesn't have any way of prolonging battery life under light loads.
