ASUS Ares II Crossfire X review: the most extreme graphics card times two

Two overclocked Radeon HD 7970s on a single card

Two cards and overclocking

Having only one of the world's fastest graphics card wasn't enough for us. When you combine two Ares II cards the rest of your PC will inevitably become the bottleneck. We overclocked a Core i7 3970X to 5 GHz, and with two Ares IIs we achieved a 3DMark Vantage top score of 71,931 points. That's good for first place in among our user benchmarks

We overclocked one of the Ares II cards, again with the 3970X processor running at 5 GHz. We were able to raise the GPU clock speed to 1220 MHz, and the memory up to 1725 MHz. That resulted in a 3DMark Vantage score of 64,218 points and a 3DMark 11 score of 20,797 points. That is very impressive indeed.
