Spire Thermax Eclipse III review: big heat pipes

Spire kills the noise with a new version of the Thermax Eclipse

By

Conclusion

The Thermax Eclipse III is better balanced than the Eclipse II, its predecessor. The old version was very loud, and fortunately the Eclipse III is much better in this regard. Still, the new Thermax Eclipse is primarily interesting if you want lots of cooling for a low price. This was more unique a couple years ago, now there are several coolers on the market for similar prices that offer the same or better performance.

In this comparison table you can view the Thermax Eclipse III next to the Cooler Master Hyper 412S, Enermax ETS-T40-TA and Scythe Mugen 3 PCGH Edition. The efficiency values indicated that the Mugen 3 PCGH is the best out of these four, and that the Cooler Master Hyper 412S is the most affordable option.

The Thermax Eclipse III is definitely an improvement over its predecessor, but compared to other brands in the same price segment it's not our first choice for this type of cooler.
