Sony Xperia P review: brighter than the sun

Sleek phone with very bright display

Test results: GPU performance

Antutu, Nenamark and GLBenchmark are test programmes that put a heavy load on the graphical side of a smartphone or tablet. Each devices runs the benchmarks in their native resolution. This puts the phones with a higher resolutions at a disadvantage, but does provide a good indication of real-life performance, since actual applications also run in their native resolution.

While the MALI 400 GPU in the NovaThor U8500 only has a single core, the performance is still pretty good. This is largely because the benchmarks, except the off-screen tests in GLBenchmark, are done in the native resolution. In the case of the Xperia P that is 960x540 pixels. That's also the reason why the Xperia P scores lower in some tests than the Xperia U and Samsung's Galaxy S Advance, phones with a lower resolution.
