The motherboards in this round-up are quite similar. The ASUS P8H77-M LE, Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H and MSI H77MA-G43 are virtually identical in terms of features, and are very close in price as well. All three of these form a good basis for an affordable Ivy Bridge system. The MSI is the most efficient, the Gigabyte board has two digital monitor connectors and better audio quality. Gigabyte therefore has our preference, but the difference is negligible.
The ASUS P8H77-I is a very nice board on paper, but the mediocre sound quality and high energy consumption prevent us from giving it any awards. If ASUS solved those two issues this would be an excellent motherboard for an HTPC or a Home Server.
The Gigabyte GA-H77-D3H is a very good ATX board, but if you want an H77 system you more than likely are not going to need more expansion options than you get on a microATX board and can save a little money that way.
