Test results: Battery life
Later this week you can view the test results of the Galaxy S3's battery, but there are a few things we can already say. In a very unscientific test we simultaneously charged an S3 and a Galaxy S2, put their displays on automatic brightness and used both phones at the same time as well. We used a combination of benchmarks, displaying menus, putting the phones on standby and using the camera. While the test isn't completely fair considering the battery of our Galaxy S2 is a year old, the result did indicate that the S3 is more energy-efficient than its predecessor.
After several hours of intensive use and one night in standby mode, the Galaxy S3 still had 27 percent battery left, while the Galaxy S2 was down to eight percent. In practice the Galaxy S III will easily last a full day, even with pushmail, twitter and whatsapp running in the beckground.
