Samsung Galaxy S3 review: the human phone

Can the Galaxy S III match the success of its predecessor?

Test results: Display brightness

With a colorimeter we measure the maximum brightness of a white area on the display.

It's a known fact that peak brightness is traditionally not a strong side of Super AMOLED displays. When all energy-saving features are disabled and we measure a small area, we get values above 300 cd/m². When we measure a larger area then the brightness is no higher than 237 cd/m². This means that in bright sun light the display is more difficult to read than for example the LCD screen of the HTC One X.
