The TL-WR2543ND looks a bit cheap, but with an average price of £72 euro it is also one of the cheapest in our test. Dual-band users should know that this router cannot run both frequencies at the same time.
The router’s web interface is excellent, with extensive help features in the right-hand column. You can even set the region you’re in. This does actually make a difference, since different countries have different limitations for the transmit power. In the United States the upper limit for 2.4GHz is quite a bit higher than in the Netherlands, for example. We should note that legally it is not permitted to set a different region than where you actually live.
The performance of the TL-WR2543ND is excellent, especially at 2.4GHz. Only the ASUS RT-N66U can best this router in several areas. What also stands out is the slow speed with WAN to LAN, it scored 115Mbps.
+ Very fast, extensive features, cheap
- No simultaneous dual band, slow WAN to LAN, no IPv6 support
