Early last week, Nvidia officially debuted its Tegra K1 system-on-a-chip. Benchmark results of the new processor has now surfaced, and can be found below.
Nvidia's new chip has 192 GPU-cores and will be available in both quad-core and dual-core models. The quad-core K1 is equipped with four 32-bit ARM A15 cores, with a max clock frequency of 2.3 GHz. The dual-core variant is based on two 64-bit Denver cores, which were developed by Nvidia. The Denver cores have a maximum clock speed of 2.5 GHz. A TDP-value of 5 watt has been specified for the new SoC. As mentioned, benchmark scores have popped up; in the GLBench T-Rex 2.7 benchmark, the K1-chip was capable of producing 60 frames per second at a Full HD resolution. This makes the new K1 roughly 3.75 times faster than its predecessor and about two times as fast as Apple's A7 SoC. The benchmarks also show that the K1 is even faster than Intel's HD Graphics 4200 and 4400 chips.
The Cortex A15-based Tegras are expected to release later this year. The new Tegras with Denver-cores will likely make a debut in 2015.
