Philips debuts external SSDs with USB 3.0 interface

Philips has added three new external SSDs to its product line-up. The drives should stand out thanks to their portability; they're only 0.8 cm thick.

To optimally use the drive's performance, a USB 3.0 interface is present. Philips claims reading and writing speeds of 240 MB/s and 140 MB/s respectively. Because the drive is based on flash memory chips, it should be less susceptible to interference. Naturally, as there are no moving parts, the storage solution is completely silent.

Philips' Portable SSD comes in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB versions. The 128 GB model has an MSRP of €129 (£110). The other two drives have not yet been priced.
