ASUS creates RT-N14U Cloud Router with 3G and 4G functionality

ASUS has developed a new multifunctional router. The device, called RT-N14U, is marketed as a so-called 'Cloud Router', which allows data to be stored and approached over the network easily.

The router features AiCloud support, ASUS software which can synchronize, share and stream files. An online environment can be used for storage, but alternatively, a NAS-server or simple external hard drive will do. In addition to support for computers and laptops, this personal cloud can also be approached from mobile devices. An app is available for both iOS and Android.

The router has five network connectors. Oddly enough, they are of the 100 Mb/s type, while 1 Gb/s is far more common nowadays. With its two integrated antennas, it offers wireless support for 802.11n on the 2.4 GHz band with maximum speeds of 300 Mb/s. Through the WAN-port, a 3G or 4G connection can be shared as well.

ASUS' RT-N14U Cloud Router has a recommended price of $70 (£45).
