Point of View SmartTV dongle for Android 4.1 over HDMI

Point of View has introduced the HDMI SmartTV dongle. Ths dongle allows every television with an HDMI input to be transformed into a "Smart TV". It is best compared to a tablet, with the television functioning as monitor. The SmartTV dongle features a Rockchip RK3066 dual-core Cortex A9 SoC with a 1.6 GHz clock frequency and matching Mali 400MP GPU. 1 GB of DDR3 memory and 4 GB of storage capacity is present. The latter is expandable through a micro-SD card slot.

The SmartTV is based on the Android 4.1 operating system, and provides users with a browser and all Google Play Apps on their television. The dongle has an integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi antenna to allow a wireless connection to be established. To control the dongle, a small wireless keyboard is bundled, including trackpad. Both the dongle and keyboard can be recharged through USB.

Point of View's HDMI SmartTV dongle has a recommended price of €99 (£80) and will be released next week.
