During a press conference, Foxconn CEO Terry Gou has stated that preparations are being made to start production on a television designed by Apple. The iTV, as the device has been aptly named by media, has been rumoured for a while now.

Foxconn will receive the panels from Sharp and will further construct the Apple television. According to the China Daily newspaper, production has not yet been started. At the time of writing, no specifications on the new TV are available. Rumours included gesture control, as well as facial recognition. The Siri (Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface) and Facetime features are allegedly implemented in the device.

It's still unclear when Apple's television will be launched, but it's likely to be somewhere next year.

Apple iTV is rumoured to resemble a Cinema Display
