Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 review incl. 3-way SLI and frametimes

Updated GTX 680 with fastest video memory yet

By ,

Introduction

Last week Nvidia launched the GeForce GTX 780, the first card in the new GeForce 700 series. Today it's time for the second card, the GeForce GTX 770. In name and positioning it's the replacement of the GeForce 670, but in terms of hardware it's more akin to a GeForce GTX 680 on steroids.

We called the GeForce GTX 780 the "Titan light", and it's actually a very apt description. The card is based on the high-end GK110 GPU used in the GeForce GTX Titan, but with fewer active cores. The new GeForce GTX 770 is based on the GK104 GPU, which we've seen previously in the GeForce GTX 680, 670 and 660 Ti. That doesn't mean it's a carbon copy of those cards. The specs are similar to those of the GeForce GTX 680, but the video memory is much faster.

MSI, ASUS and Zotac sent us one or more GeForce GTX 770 cards. Along with an Nvidia reference card, we put them through our testing procedure, including SLI and 3-way SLI.
