PCMark Vantage
PCMark Vantage is based on the hard drive usage of actual applications, albeit applications from the Windows Vista era. Futuremark uses so-called traces, which are recordings of disk activity of real programmes, and repeats the same activity as quickly as possible in the benchmark. Because traces aren't played back in real time but as fast as possible, performance differences are amplified in PCMark Vantage.
The Samsung 840 Pro sets records with all three models, only the OCZ Vector 256GB comes close. The scores of the 840s are also good, but we do need to mention that with the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers the PCMark Vantage score drops about 8 percent for the 840s. Samsung says that this should be resolved soon. We used version 11.0.
