A read speed of more than 90 MB/s, a solid metal case, room for two drives and even USB 3.0? It sounds like a fairly expensive NAS, but in the case of the ReadyNAS Duo V2 it's not too bad. First we'd like to commend Netgear for giving this entry-level model such a professional high-end look. The NAS sits in a solid, metal chassis, with a front panel behind which the metal trays for the disks are located.
On the front there is a handy back up button and a USB 2.0 connection, for connecting a camera or memory stick for example. On the back there are two USB 3.0 ports that let you expand storage if you run out of space on two disks. The ReadyNAS runs on a 1.6 GHz processor by Marvell and 256 MB DDR3 memory. It's perhaps not the fastest processor around for a NAS, but as you will see in the test results, this ReadyNAS Duo is pretty fast and relatively efficient.
