Stylish NAS, but is it any good?

Conclusion

The LaCie 2big is a NAS in a solid aluminium case with an appealing design. When we look at its performance, it does reasonably well. It's not the fastest NAS money can buy, but for most applications the performance of the LaCie 2big NAS is perfectly fine. It's also very user-friendly.

LaCie 2big NAS 6TB

LaCie claims to be able to achieve 100 MB/s with this NAS. It is indeed possible, but then you have to configure it in RAID 0. The NAS Performance Tester records 50.06 MB/s for writing and 92.99 MB/s for reading, and the average for Intel NASPT is 78.233 MB/s. So if you don't mind taking a little risk with your data, then the high speed is possible.

The average price of the Diskless version is £240. The version with two 3TB disks costs an average of £525. This means that the disks cost quite a lot of money. Home users will probably go for the version without disks, while business users could opt for the one with disks included, as the three-year warranty also covers those disks. In our opinion, the price is still a bit high for what you get, even for the version without any disks.
