QNAP TS-459 Pro II and TS-559 Pro II

The same large number of features mentioned in our review of the entry-level QNAP NAS devices on the previous page, are also found in the TS-459 Pro II and the TS-559 Pro II. Both have a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom processor, and are clearly aimed at the business sector with the locks to prevent drives from being removed. The TS-459 Pro II has room for four drives, and the TS-559 Pro II has room for five as the name suggests.

The performance of both versions is very good. While the front strongly resembles the cheaper models, the back is quite different. The power supply is integrated into the case, and there are four USB 2.0 ports. There are two USB 3.0 ports, one in front and one in the back. QNAP has also added two eSATA ports, two network connections, and a VGA port. The QNAP NAS' aren't cheap, and that is definitely the case for these two. The four-drive model costs around £457, while the five-disk one will set you back an average of £800.
