Introduction
Headsets allow you to enjoy different types of media without forcing those around you to listen along, and make it easy to communicatie with your teammates while playing a computer game. Headsets can be pretty pricey, but you don't necessarily have to spend a huge amount of money. One of our favourite headsets of the past year, the AKG GHS-1, has significantly gone down in price and there are several other affordable models on the market that perform really well. Based on the positives and negatives discussed in each review you will be able to make a well-informed choice, even though there always is a subjective component in this type of test. It is therefore always a good idea to give a headset a listen prior to purchase.
Having said that, there are enough variables that we can test in order to objectively evaluate headsets. How comfortable a headset is on your head and ears is essential, but the available settings and the sound quality are no less important. User-friendliness and what de possibilities are in terms op controls are also important. After listening to different types of music, we perform a listening test with so-called frequency sweep tests. This shows us the frequency range of each headset, how it performs in reproducing the low, mid, and high parts of the spectrum. We also carry out a surround sound test, but only on headsets specifically designed for this purpose. We used the AKG GHS-1 as a point of reference for this test.
