Step 8: Optical drive
Now it's time for the optical drive. This is typically placed on the front of the case at the top, giving you easy access in virtually every set-up. If the case is going to be placed on top of a desk, it might be easier to fit it further down.
First you will need to remove one of the protective covers from the front panel. On many cases the front panel can simply be removed by pulling at it at the bottom. Removing the protective cover should be pretty straightforward.
Once that is done, replace the front panel. From inside the case, slide the optical drive against the front of the case. In most cases it will just click into place. In less expensive cases you will need to fasten it with screws.
After mounting the optical drive it needs to be connected to the motherboard and the power supply, in the same way you connected the hard drive. For the optical drive it is of less importance which SATA connector you use.
