In 2011 Creative introduced the Sound Core 3D audio chip, and recently a new series of Sound Blaster cards was released using that chip. We tested the most high-end ZxR version, which is available for 200-250 euros.

Last CES, ASUS showed the Xonar Essence One Muses Edition. This external soundcard is developed for the high-end market and features six Muses 01 Op-Amps. The manufacturer now debuts the Xonar Essence STU, which should be interesting for users of a laptop of compact (Mini-ITX) system.

ASUS has introduced the ROG Xonar Phoebus Solo, a soundcard for gamers that are looking for a better audio experience compared to onboard sound chips.
