Elitegroup ECS proudly presents its latest Z77H2-A4 motherboard. The board features the so-called Hyper Alloy Choke technology, which should benefit the stability and efficiency of a system, thus allowing for greater overclocks. The Hyper Alloy Chokes that ECS uses are better resistant to heat and dissipate heat more easily. The gold finish protects them from corrosion and oxidation. ECS made a similar claim with its Super Alloy spools, which were introduced in May. Whether they actually offer added value or not is still unclear.
The ECS Z77H2-A4 is the first to feature the Hyper Alloy Choke technology. The ATX motherboard is based on Intel's Z77 chipset and features the LGA1155 socket, four DDR3 memory slots and support for a CrossFireX configuration of graphics cards. A single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot is available, as well as a PCI-Express 2.0 x16, three PCI-Express x1 and two PCI slots. For hard disks, solid-state drives and optical drives, two Serial ATA 6 Gbit/s and four SATA 3 Gbit/s connectors are present, in addition to a mini-PCI Express (mSATA) connector.
A RealTek RTL8111E chip provides Gigabit LAN, while Realtek's ALC892 audio chip offers 7.1 audio. The I/O panel holds PS/2, two USB 3.0 connectors, 6x USB 2.0, D-Sub, DVI and HDMI connectors. Through a header, two additional USB 3.0 connectors can be attached.
