MSI has published a teaser of the features of its upcoming Z77 MPower motherboards. It's assumed that the products are intended for an overclocking audience, given the fact the exterior matches that of MSI's Lightning graphics cards. During Computex, MSI revealed that the motherboards would be intended for overclockers that don't wish to pay top dollar, and positioned the series above the GD65 but below the XPower line.
The OC Certified label shows that MSI has subjected the motherboards to a 24-hours stress test, using an overclocked processor and high ambient temperatures. During overclocking, stability would be ensured by an improved power design, as well as improved water cooling support. Contributing factors are the Military Class III components and a 16-phase VRM power design.
The motherboard has SATA 6 Gbit/s, US 3.0, PCI-Express 3.0, Bluetooth and WiFi. To simplify overclocking, physical Clear CMOS, power and reset buttons are present, as well as debug LEDs for easy error analysis. MSI has stated that if the motherboard breaks down during overclocking, the manufacturer will repair it at no cost.
It's still unclear when MSI's MPower motherboard will be available, and what it's price will be.
