Zalman is about to launch a new line of mid-range power supplies, the Goldrock series. The new creations will be available in capacities of 550, 650 and 750 watts and are 80Plus Gold certified. The Goldrock power supplies use Japanese solid-cap capacitors, support Active PFC, have a so-called LLC resonant circuit and DC-DC switching. A single large fan is present, which expels heat through the honeycomb structure of the PSU. To save costs, the power supplies have a non-modular design.
For the average user, the most important thing is how much capacity the PSUs have. The table below outlines the specifications of the different models. Each of the new power supplies has a single +12V rail, with a current that ranges from 45 to 62 Amps. Surge protection features are present, in addition to overload and short-circuiting protection. Zalman's new Goldrock 550, 650 and 750 watts power supplies will cost respectively $135 (£87), $145 (£94), and $158 (£102).
