ASUS has introduced a new 27-inch gaming monitor, the VG278HE. The screen uses a TN panel with a 1920x1080 Full HD resolution and a 2 ms gray-to-gray response time. This doesn't seem very impressive, given the large amount of similar monitors out there. The VG278HE stands out thanks to its high refresh rate. Where most screens are of the 60 Hz type and some 3D gaming screens have 120 Hz panels, ASUS latest creation is capable of reaching a refresh rate of 144 Hz. This makes the monitor exceptionally suited for 3D gaming, for instance with Nvidia's 3D Vision 2, which is also supported by the screen. The required 3D kit has to be purchased separately.

The monitor has HDMI, dual-link DVI and VGA video inputs. 3W stereo speakers are present, in addition to a headphone jack. The monitor can be tilted and rotated, as well as adjusted in height.

ASUS' VG278HE is to launch in the fourth quarter of this year at a still undisclosed price.
