With the Galaxy S III finally available, rumours have started to surface on a successor to the Galaxy Note. GSM Arena has heard from a reliable source that the Galaxy Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, slightly larger than the 5.3" display of the first Note.

The design of the Note 2 is based on that of the Galaxy S III, the current top model. Despite its larger screen, the device will be less wide than the original model. While Samsung has yet to reveal any of the technical specifications, the latest rumours mention an improved 8 megapixel camera, 2 GB of memory and an Exynos 5250 SoC, based on a dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor.

The introduction of the Galaxy Note 2 was initially planned for October, but is likely to have been rescheduled to September. Samsung aims to release its device before the new iPhone 5, which will also be introduced in September.
