Iomega has introduced the StorCenter px12-450r, a server NAS intended for small and medium-sized businesses. The device is specially designed for advanced functions such as deduplication, virtual desktops, databases and storage applications.

The NAS is powered by an Intel Xeon E3-1200, combined with 8 GB of memory. The StorCenter px12-450r offers room for up to twelve hard disks, each with a maximum capacity of 4 TB. The device also supports SSDs and features two PCI-express slots, which can be used for expansion cards to connect the px12-450r to fast 10 Gbit networks.

Iomega's StorCenter px12-450r will be available later this year, at a price of around £4000 for a model without hard disks.
