Toshiba has announced a new line of ultrabooks, called Z930. The Satellite Z930 and Portégé Z930 are both lightweight 13.3-inch laptops with a weight of 1.12 kg. The new models are to replace Toshiba's Z830 series. The casing is made of an aluminium alloy and has a 15.9 millimetre thickness.

The ultrabooks can be equipped with a variety of processors from Intel's mobile Ivy Bridge line, which can be combined with up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory. Despite the limited thickness, the ultrabooks do have an HDMI and VGA connector, one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, as well as a memory card reader and a network connector. A WiFi 802.11n adaptor is present for wireless networking. The ultrabooks also support Intel's Wireless Display 3.0 technology, which is used to wirelessly connect monitors. Toshiba has added 256 GB SSDs to its new ultrabooks. The touchpad has been kept extra large and the keyboard has LED backlighting to improve readability at night.

Toshiba's Z930 ultrabooks will be available later this month and have a recommended price of € 999 (£810) and up, dependent on the chosen configuration.
