Computex: Noctua working on fan with active noise cancellation

Noctua treated us to a new series of fans on its Computex stand, each equipped with Active Noise Cancellation technology. The ANC technology works by the implementation of a magnet in the edge of the fan, which generates a variable magnetic field. As such, the fan blades can be made to resonate at an opposite frequency to the sound they produce. A microphone behind the CPU-cooler provides a reference signal. The Focused Flow NF-F12 fans are made in cooperation with RotoSub and should be available late 2013. The images and video below detail the concept.

Noctua is working on a range of new coolers and fans, as illustrated by the various prototypes.
