Philips has introduced the 241P4QPYKES, a new 24-inch monitor in its 'Professional' series. The monitor has an Advanced Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment (AMVA) panel, which offers a very high static contrast ratio, Philips claims. Unfortunately, only the dynamic contrast is specified, at 20.000.000:1. The new monitor offers viewing angles of 178 degrees in both directions.
The panel has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 250 cd/m2 brightness. A 2.0 megapixel webcam has been integrated as well. The webcam allows the screen to detect users, dimming it's backlight automatically when the system is idle, thus saving up to 80% of power. A 0-watt switch is used to turn the screen off entirely, effectively the same as unplugging it.
Philips' new 24-inch monitor has DisplayPort, DVI and VGA connectors, in addition to a three-port USB 2.0 hub. Lastly, the screen features stereo 1.5 W speakers and a headphone jack.
The Philips 241P4QPYKES monitor costs about £250.
