Last month, HTC introduced its new flagship smartphones, followed by Samsung just yesterday. It seems that the ball is now in Apple's court to launch a new phone. Rumours of a new iPhone are slowly starting to appear.
The most recent claims mention a larger screen and a new dock connector, the latter of which may upset quite a few users. Unlike the curvy angles of the iPhone 4S, the new screen is to be completely rectangular. The new iPhone is also supposed to be 2 mm thinner than its predecessor. It's still unclear whether Apple will be using Corning's Gorilla Glass technology.
Furthermore, a patent application has surfaced depicting a new type of touchscreen. The screen forms physically raised buttons, allowing important information to be emphasized. As a result, user input should be simplified and offer more tactile feedback. A more detailed explanation of the technology behind the touchscreen can be read on PatentlyApple.com.
