Pioneer will release its new DVR-S17J DVD-burner later this week. The internal 5,25" optical drive has a 2 MB buffer and uses the SATA 2 interface, resulting in a maximum data bandwidth of 3 Gbit/s. The burner is equipped with the LabelFlash technology, allowing images to be burned on a DVD's cover.

The DVR-S17J promises writing speeds of 20x for DVD-R/+R, 12x for DVD-R/+DL and DVD-RAM, 8x for DVD+RW and 6x for DVD-RW. CD-R's are written at a maximum speed of 40x and CD-RW's at speeds of up to 32x.

The burner is available with different fronts in the colours white, silver and black. Pioneer bundles the CyberLink software with LabelFlash. The DVR-S17J is to be released shortly at a still unknown pricetag.
