The Sound Blaster Easy Record allows users to easily digitize music from a cassette player or LP-player. Creative's small device is connected to a PC via USB and to the audio-source by means or a mini-jack or stereo RCA.

Creative reports that the recordign device does not require any additional drivers; recording functionality is immediately available when connected to a PC with Windows XP, Vista or 7. The bundled Smart Recorder software does provide extra functionality, such as a step-by-step guide of the recording process. The recorded music can also be directly imported to iTunes using the software.

Apart from the line-in and RCA-ports, a mini-jack output is available for audio playback. This makes it possible to use the Sound Blaster Easy Record as a replacement to an onboard soundcard. EAX effects and CMSS surround are also present. The headphones output allows for real-time monitoring of the audiostream during recording.

Creative's Sound Blaster Easy Record will be released in the US later this month, sporting a pricetag of $35.
